A Bhríghid ní Dubhthaig dhuinn Do-bheir luing ó phort go port, Cuiream sinn fád chomairche, O's leat féin an oidhche anocht. A Bhríghid ní Dubhthaig dhuinn, Inghean aobhdha abhrad-chruinn Dubhthach was the name of St. Brigid's father. "Abhrad-chruinn" (having shapely eyebrows) is purely conjectural. Oidhche seems to rhyme with the 2nd and 3rd syllables of comairche. - ED.
