IRISH TECHNICAL TERMS FOR USE AT MEETINGS. II. DEBATE: conspóid, pléidh, aighneas, tagra, iomar- bháigh. Aighneas and iomarbháigh would apply to rather keen controversy, such as one would not wish always to prevail at Irish meetings. Tagra, the discussion of a par- ticular point, not a general debate. To ADJOURN THE DEBATE (OR MEETING) sine die: conspóid (nó tionól) do chur ar cáirde gan ceapadh lae. THE COURSE OF DEBATE: imtheacht na conspóide. THE MATTER WAS REFERRED (ENTRUSTED, DELE- GATED) TO THE SECRETARY: do fágadh an chúis fá'n rúnaidhe; do cuireadh an chúis de chúram (mar chúram) ar an rúnaidhe; do cuireadh an chúis i n-iocht an rúnaidhe. EX-OFFICIO RANK: céim de bhrígh oifige. A MEMBER: comhalta, cumanntóir, páirteach, páir- tidhe, ball. Many of high authority on Irish object to the use of ball, except in some fixed phrases, as ball eaglaise. Comhalta, cumanntóir, member of a society or association (comhaltas, cumann).
