Hurá! a leinbh nár geineadh as fiadhaile, Acht as ceart-lár ríghthe 'ghníodh dlighthe agus riaghalta! Mo ghrádh-sa an leanbh nár easguir(a) i n-éinfeacht, Acht d'fhás seachd dtroighthe go tara le chéile;(b) Mac an mharcaigh do ghreadadh na méirligh Ó Léim an Chapaill go M'alla na méath-mhart. Hurá! a Ridire etc. Sin lacht luinge 'na thuille tré shliabh chughainn D'fhíon bhreagh bhorb gan dochal 'n-a dhiaidh dhúinn! Líontar gloine agus fiche chum 'Liaim de! Sláinte an Ridire chumasaigh Bhrianaigh Hurá! a Ridire etc. Ní'l fiú leanbh ná seana-bhean chríonda O Bhunraite go Mainistir Ínse Nach bhfuil ag preabadh chum baluithe an fhíona, A's é tá chaitheamh ag maithibh na tíre! Hurá! a Ridire etc. D' fhíontaibh dearga lachtanna a's cróna(c) Píopaidhe beathuisge, meadracha beórach, Bíom dá mblaiseadh — go mblais- eam go tóin iad, 'S go dtéidh an ghealach i bhfolach 'n-ár mbrógaibh! Hurá! a Ridire etc.
NOTES. (a) easguir, said of the bursting of the ear of corn. (b) le chéile, by steady degrees; i ndiaidh a chéile deuntar na caisleáin, "by degrees the castles are built." (c) Perhaps we should read fíonta dearga lachtna agus cróna = red, yellow and brown wines. (d) bíom, blaiseam, now usually bímís, blaisimís. (e) Dochal, a common pronunciation of doicheall, churlishness.
