The following is the opening stanza of “Squire geal Freeman.” Fáilte! a phreumh De bhláth na gcraobh i dtráth go hEirinn Aoibhinn; Fáilte! a sgéimh Atá gan bhéim, Mar ghnáth-ghnaoi déithe Chítear; Fáilte! a chléirigh Dháimhe is éigse, Fuair ó bhéithibh Fíor-ghean, Fáilte is ceud, Le páirt uaim fein Do'n tsár-fhear, Squire geal Freeman! Flaith gan gruaim dob' fhearra cáil, Fuair barra is buaidh i measg gach dáil, Dathta uasal sona suabh, Is fás do chruadhuigh mo laoch mear.
