A BITTER ELEGY FEART-LAIODH SHEÁGHAIN CIOMHSÓG. I. Faoi chliabh na lice so curtha, tá 'n oll- phiast ramhar Do chiap lé dlighthibh an fhuirionn budh meidh- reach, teann; Do b' fhearrde mise, 's gach nduine dár fhuiling dlighe Gall, An Diabhal d'a sgiobadh, tá tuilleamh a's seacht mbliadhna ann. II. An marbh so féin, mo leun, níor smachtuigh a thoil, Is mairg do thréig Mac Dé, 's mar Pheadar nár ghoil; Do mhairbh gach aon dár fheud — fá mharbhadh níor bhocht - Acht do mhairbh é féin maraon, idir anam a's corp.
III. Mallacht na bhfann, gach am, do thuill sé gan truaigh, A's easgainidhe cheall 'na cheann, do cuireadh gach uair, Ag seasamh go teann i gcoinne Cille agus Tuaith, Thug leabaidh 'measg amhus dó thall, in Ifrionn dubh. IV. Congbhuigh fad' bhonn go lom, a ghairbh-lic mhór! An mústaire fallsa do mheabhruigh gangaid a's gó; Le dlighthibh na nGall thug sgannradh air Bhanba a's tóir, A's go bhfeicead-sa in am, faoi d' shamhailt, a maireann dá phór.
